Day 8- Saturday 18 July

Rick emerges from his tent with a sore head and that 'where am I' feeling... More to the point, where's Gary? His car and trailer are gone, and Seamus from the Dublin club is back on the scene, making a start on the carnage from Friday night. Rick feels obliged to get going with the cleaning, and on walking into the clubhouse is confronted by the smell of beer and wine, and flashbacks from the night before start to creep in. Matthew and Abi crawl out of their beds, awoken by the torrential rain hammering on the tent. They emerge to Rick wrestling with his tent- for some reason he has it in his head that rain is the best weather to be derigging tents. The four get going on the cleaning operation, though Seamus really saves the day, disappearing and reappearing with half of Tesco's cleaning aisle and getting the place sparkling, somehow not frustrated with the three hungover louts he has to contend with. Rick looks on in horror as Abi starts to load up his car with her copious luggage, plus Tim's leftover bits and pieces and then the Queen's parachutes. Gary had left his precious vessel behind and Rick had the heart to rescue that. Suddenly we were ready! With the car packed literally to capacity, luggage on Matthew's lap and all, they leave Birr, unsure of whether their plan to route south to Roscrea before heading north is really the best option, especially with Abi's navigation record so far. But they make it home, without a single wrong turn, dropping Matthew in Belfast and then making the final slog up to Bellarena, where Abi makes a run for the shower. Rick heads off home with a considerably lighter car, and it seems that the trip is over.

But we're still a glider down! The K-13 is still in Birr, awaiting retrieval. Will that be an epic? With Abi leaving in eight days will she ever see her favourite yellow 13 again? Will it even ever get home? Birr isn't over yet!
